The practice team from Glendair Dental Practice in Alfreton, Derbyshire, paid tribute to Scotland’s favourite son with a Burns Night to remember.
Appropriately adorned with varying degrees of tartan they gathered at nearby Santo’s Higham Farm Hotel, where they piped in, then toasted the haggis. Tables were named a fter Burns poems and besides haggis the menu included traditional favourites such as Scotch broth, neeps and tatties, venison and Cranachan. There was a toast to the ‘lassies’, followed by a reply from said lassies and the evening was rounded off with some classic Scottish dancing. Not only was a fine time had by all but an impressive £1,300 was raised for Cancer Research UK through ticket sales, an auction and a raffle.

Some 45 people including staff from Glendair Dental Practice and their friends dressed up in pink bras and fairy costumes for a 10k walk to raise money for Breast Cancer Research recently.
The event, which raised a staggering £800 for the leading cancer charity, took place in September and saw the team walk from Glendair's Alfreton practice to Santos at Higham, raising money en-route.
Glendair's practice manager, Bev Harston, said: At Glendair we think that as well as offering first class dentistry to families and local people that it is important to give something back. We would like to thank all those passers by who supported us and gave so generously.
Dental practice staff had put up posters around the town inviting people to join them on the charity walk and were delighted with how many people turned up on the day. They are hoping even more people will join them next year so they can beat this year's fund-raising total.

Two years ago the dental practice, which has surgeries in Alfreton and South Normanton, handed over a cheque for £3,000 to the son of one of their patients who had been tragically left paralysed following a climbing accident. Michael Garton got married recently and sent the practice photos of his wedding.
"We were thinking of paying for a celebrity to open our practice but decided the money could be much better spent by Michael, who had been, seriously hurt in a climbing accident" said Bev.
"We asked Michael if he would perform the opening ceremony and as a surprise we gave him the cheque. Michael is a very positive person who just gets on with life and we would like to wish him lots of happiness for the future with his new wife."
