Tray 12-14
Before starting my 12th tray I had to have an appointment with Matt again. At this visit he looked to see how things were going, ensuring the teeth were moving into position as they should be. At this visit I also needed more “interproximal reduction” (little bits polishing off the side of some teeth to allow them space to move). Before Matt did this he put a retractor in my mouth to move my lips out of the way, although this looks a bit strange it’s totally comfortable and nothing to worry about. After about 5 minutes and a bit of water the interproximal reductions was finished, the cold water was slightly sensitive but not painful. It was a bit of a shock looking in the mirror afterward as my bottom teeth looked really happy.
I know this is only short term & as the teeth move into line the gaps will close. Over the next few weeks I have noticed a lot more food trapping between my teeth, so I keep a TePe brush in my handbag at all times.
I also found this set of trays caused my mouth to ache the most, I’ve not needed painkillers but I have been aware of discomfort for a few days after changing each tray. The discomfort is all worth it though, as I’m writing this I am wearing tray number 14 and I’m totally amazed at the results so far! My teeth are now practically straight & I can really start to see how the end result will soon look…… bring on the next few aligners!!!
