Our Hygiene Therapist Sara Begins her Invisalign Treatment!
Hello, my name is Sara and most patients will recognise me as the Hygiene Therapist here at Glendair!
As part of my Invisalign treatment I have agreed to write a blog, hopefully it will shed a little light on the Invisalign process for anybody considering the treatment.
It seems only right to start with why I wanted the treatment in the first place. As a young teen my teeth were quite wonky, particularity the bottom ones and like most people my age I had the typical train track braces for around 18 months. When my braces were removed the results were amazing, perfect straight teeth, I was delighted. After treatment was complete I was provided with a retainer and instructions to wear it at night for the next 6 months. After this time period I stopped wearing it which I now know was a massive mistake.
Gradually over the years my teeth started to move back and my bottom front teeth became crowded again. At first this didn’t bother me as it was my bottom teeth they weren’t as noticeable, that was until one particular holiday photo…
It was a once in a lifetime trip to Bali where we went to a temple that was overrun with monkeys, and what a great photo I got, a monkey right on the top of my head, well I say great photo… all except from my clearly visible lower teeth. One of the bottom teeth was pushed back due the crowding and it actually looked like I had a front tooth missing. Which is not a good look at any age never mind in your early 20’s.
Since this day I have always been quite concious of my smile and over the past few years I have also noticed some minor movement in one of my top teeth as well. I knew I wanted some sort of orthodontic treatment to correct them but wasn’t sure which would be the best method for me. I am dental therapist but had limited knowledge on the appropriate method to straighten my teeth so that was where Matt came in.
Keep your eyes open for Sara’s next Invisalign blog, coming very soon!
