Tooth Polishing
What is air polishing?

Air polishing is a treatment our hygiene therapists offer here at Glendair Dental to leave you with a fresh mouth and a brighter smile. Sounds great, right? Let us explain more!

Keep Your Teeth Dazzling

Do you have a special event or occasion coming up? Whether it’s a wedding, an interview, or if you just want to remove those pesky wine and coffee stains, then air polishing is perfect for you!

It works by using a combination of air and pressured water to deliver a controlled stream of specially processed sodium bicarbonate. This is then directed onto the teeth to remove any surface stains and plaque.

Air polishing only takes an additional ten minutes, so it’s the perfect treatment to add on to your hygiene appointment to get the best results.

GBT REWIND

Just £96.97

Turn back the clock with GBT Rewind! Our revolutionary hygiene treatment is ideal for everyone who enjoys red wine, coffee and curries (and have the stains to prove it)! It’s also perfect for NHS patients with no access to professional therapy, before tooth whitening treatment and for anyone who would like a thorough clean for fresh breath and a healthy mouth.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY GBT REWIND APPOINTMENT?

  • STEP 1: Thorough assessment of your teeth and gum health.
  • STEP 2: Temporary purple dye is applied to make the biofilm visible.
  • STEP 3: Tailored oral hygiene instructions for your home care routine.
  • STEP 4: Biofilm, staining and early hard plaque is removed and teeth are cleaned and polished using a combination of warm water, air and specially formulated powder.
  • STEP 5: Gum pockets are cleaned if required using a specially designed nozzle — no needles or anaesthetic!
  • STEP 6: If present, hard plaque is removed using pain-free technology.
  • STEP 7: Teeth have a final assessment and protective fluoride is applied.
  • STEP 8: Book your next GBT Rewind appointment as recommended to keep your mouth happy and you healthy!

Some questions that you might have…

I’d like to have whiter teeth. Are there alternatives to tooth whitening?

Yes. As well as tooth whitening we also offer air polishing, which gently rids the teeth of deep staining, returning them to their natural colour. This might be all you need to give your smile a boost. Ask us for a shade test next time you visit.

What Is Air Polishing?
Air Polishing uses special powder, air, and a gentle jet stream of water; to gently and painlessly remove surface stains caused by tobacco, food and drink. You will immediately see and feel the difference.
Does air polishing hurt?

No, air polishing is not painful. Although the spray may feel quite powerful, many patients have actually described it as quite a relaxing experience!

Who will my air polish be with?

For your air polish appointment you will either see Sara, Holly or Michelle.

What kind of training do hygienists have?

Much of a dental hygienist’s and hygiene therapist’s training is alongside and to the same standard as a dentist. Like dentists, dental therapists strictly adhere to the GDC’s standards of dental care.

Didn’t I have to see a dentist before I could see a hygienist?

Yes, but that changed in 2013 when the General Dental Council decided that patients could have direct access to hygiene therapy as frequently as they wanted.

How do I book in?
